Negoita proposes same government as Croitoru, except for 3 new names

Croitoru, government, Negoita

Oprea resigned from the government and his party after appointing Virgil Ardelean as Head of the General Bureau of Information and Internal Protection in the Ministry of the Interior, without consulting the party first. Valeriu Tabara is slated for the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, and Anton Cristian Irimie for the Ministry of Health. These are the only three new names compared to the team of ministers proposed by Lucian Croitoru. Oprea has taken over Croitoru’s governing program and the structure of the suggested 14 Cabinet ministries.

Negoita plans to keep Gheorghe Pogea as Minister of Finance, Catalin Predoiu as Minister of Justice, Teodor Paleologu as Minister of Culture, and Mihai Stanisoara as Minister of Defence. If the government is validated by Parliament, Vasile Blaga will head the Ministry of Regional Development and Tourism, Radu Berceanu, the Ministry of Transports and Communications, Adriean Videanu, the Ministry of Economy and Trade, Daniel Funeriu, the Ministry of Education. Likewise, Sulfina Barbu is once again nominated for the Environment portfolio, Bogdan Aurescu is Negoita’s choice for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Mihai Seitan for the Ministry of Labour, Family, and Social Security.

Negoita said that he will rely on votes from the Democratic Liberal Party (PDL) and the group of independents of the two Chambers, accusing the other political groups of refusing to form a national unity government which the Parliament could have controlled.

The government proposed by Negoita can currently count on 189 votes, the same votes which the Croitoru Cabinet received. A government requires 236 votes (half plus one of the total number of senators and deputies) to obtain the Parliament’s confidence vote.
