FDI amounted to 2.97 billion euros after the first seven months of 2009. BNR mentioned most of the foreign direct investments drew in the first seven months were capital participations, respectively 1.32 billion euros, while 580 million euros entered the country as intra-group credits.
In the first seven months, the investments financed 50.3 percent of the current account gap, which reached 3.79 billion euros at the end of July.
In 2009, FDI in Romania reduced 48.4 percent versus 2008, to 4.89 billion euros, and financed about 96.9 percent of the current account gap.
