Romania’s core bourse BSE ends session with a 2% hike, underpinned by Banca Transilvania shares

The board of Romania’s fifth bank by assets Banca Transilvania (TLV) proposed shareholders to list the lender on the stock exchange in Vienna and to hike the share capital by 391.58 million lei. The shareholders will tackle the proposals at the general meeting on April 28.

Liquidity compressed to 18.07 million lei, from 37.08 million lei in the previous session.

The BET index reflecting the evolution of the ten best companies on BSE rose 1.96 percent to 5,998.66 and the BET-C composite index assessing all listed shares minus financial companies soared 1.83 percent to 3,467.70.

The BET-FI index of the five financial companies known as SIF inched 0.26 percent to 31,940.32 and the ROTX index for trading blue-chips in Vienna added 1.78 percent to 11,850.10.

The BET-XT index of the 25 most liquid companies climbed 1.39 percent to 588.73 and the BET-NG index showing the evolution of the power market grew 1.12 percent to 802.77.

Shares of Banca Transilvania boosted 4.82 percent to 2.39 lei at closing bell, after sponging deals of 3.95 million lei, while those of BRD SocGen (BRD) won 0.66 percent to 15.30 lei.

SIF Oltenia (SIF5) advanced 1.13 percent to 1.79 lei and SIF Banat-Crisana (SIF1) idled at 1.61 lei.

Romania’s top oil company Petrom (SNP) jumped 1.51 percent to 0.337 lei and Biofarm (BIO) hiked 3.86 percent to 0.242 lei.
