On the other hand, import brands, whose sales were also affected by the crisis, were much more flexible, relying on low prices, services, and mobility, with Asian producers dominating the netbook market.
“The low price, the power and flexibility of international corporations, the focus on mobility, the new models that have appeared, and service packages included have taken an even larger bite out of the local computer producers’ market, already affected by the decline in sales of desktops in favor of notebooks,” President of the Association of Producers and Distributors of IT Equipment (APDETIC), Valentin Negoita, told Business Standard.
The share of the hardware segment in an IT market estimated to be worth $2.4 billion (€1.589 bln) will fall to 64 percent in 2009 from 70 percent, according to forecasts by the International Data Corporation Romania (IDC) research and consultancy in the IT field.
