The drop in the cement and chemical markets cut Servtrans’ business to €20 mln

“The main cause is the economic crisis. A lot of industries, such as the cement, coal, or chemical industries, registered drops. Oil went better,” the company’s General Manager, George Buruiana, told Business Standard.

According to the businessman, freight traffic fell by up to 20-25 percent in the first half of 2009, and he expects a similar drop rate for the coming six months. “We will not overcome the crisis so quickly, which means that those companies which we have contracts with will not rebound. Most likely, we will be able to talk about a slight increase in March 2010,” Buruiana said.

Although Servtrans Invest registered drops recently, like all the other companies in the field, Buruiana said that the operator will soon enter Poland, on the international segment, with a freight train, to have a city in central Romania as starting point.
