Transgaz ends H1 with €40.5 mln in profit, but below budget

Bucharest Stock Exchange, profit, Transgaz

The transporter had planned to end the first half of 2009 with a net income of RON 181.2 mln (€43.1 mln).

The rise in profit is mainly due to the cost-cut program which had good results in the first six months of 2009. Thus, according to data submitted to the Bucharest Stock Exchange, company revenues soared 11.57 percent in the first six months, to RON 629.3 mln (€149.8 mln), while expenses rose by 8.37 percent to RON 427.16 mln (€101.7 mln).

Based on these results, the national natural gas transporter maintains its intention to raise profit by 10-12 percent this year compared to the RON 239 mln (€65 mln) level posted in 2008, in spite of the fact that the volume of gas transported through its pipes fell by one quarter in the first half of this year, due to the crisis.
